Leigh Ann Whittle, Owner
Leigh Ann is clearly passionate about communication. Throughout her career, she has actively sought ways to improve the internal and external communication practices of all organizations with which she has been involved. She maintains currency in her field through active participation in academic organizations and adjunct instruction. As owner of Sapphire Communications and co-founder of Aviation Lifestyles, she understands firsthand the challenges small business owners face each day.
When Leigh Ann founded Sapphire Communications in 2014, she had accumulated more than 15 years’ professional communication, writing, and editing experience. In addition to her current clientele, she has worked with the likes of Axiom Re, LP, the North Carolina Motorsports Association, Pfizer, NVE Pharmaceuticals, Kraft Foods, Hershey Foods, Jim Beam, Four Feet Forward, Endurance Karting, South Boston (Va.) Speedway, Alamance (N.C.) Republican Women, and the Civil Air Patrol, as well as regional and trade newspapers and college publications. She also coordinated promotional activities associated with MRN Radio and the Virginia Lottery. A skilled college-level communication instructor, Leigh Ann has also taught business communication, public speaking, and composition courses at Elon University, Liberty University, Southern New Hampshire University, and Guilford Technical Community College.
Leigh Ann enjoys volunteering in her community and serves on the board of directors for the Humane Society of Alamance County. Her creative writing has earned her multiple Burlington (N.C.) Writer’s Club and Alamance Reads awards. Leigh Ann is an active member of the Association for Business Communication and American Association for Adult and Continuing Education. She holds a M.Ed. in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University, a M.A. in English from East Carolina University, and a B.A. in Communication and Journalism from Elon University. Leigh Ann is also a FAA Certified Advanced Ground Instructor and a North Carolina Notary Public
